Alan joined Spinnaker Financial Advisors in 2014. He was previously employed by a fee-only financial planning firm in Pennsylvania for eight years where he worked directly with clients advising on retirement planning, asset management, income tax planning, and various other projects. An Idaho native, he is thrilled to return and serve the people of his home state.
Alan developed a passion for comprehensive financial planning while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting at Utah State University in 2004. He pursued this passion further by earning Masters of Science in Personal Financial Planning and Masters of Business Administration degrees from Texas Tech University in 2005. He received the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation in 2008.
A committed lifelong student, Alan has maintained membership in the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) which has provided opportunities to meet like-minded professional and learn the latest developments in financial planning. He is particularly interested in understanding what makes investor’s minds tick and how to help them overcome behaviors that can be detrimental to their financial health.
As an outlet for his passion for financial planning and financial education, Alan has volunteered as an instructor with Junior Achievement, an organization that teaches lessons on business and economics to school students. He has also volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America as an adult scout leader.
Alan and his wife Amber are fortunate to have three children. They enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors and long walks on the beach.
